Osgood Riddance
After tracking down the missing sister of her former partner Audrey, and helping to put an end to a monstrous being’s reign of terror, one would think they’d find Prudence Osgood riding high. Instead, they couldn’t find her at all.
A year and change after the events of Osgood as Gone, our titular hero has returned. Osgood is confused, exhausted, and dragging along more quirks than she ever remembers having. Her friends Zack and Audrey, the makeshift Spectral Inspector crew in her absence, don’t quickly believe that things are back to normal, but have to admit that no one is quite as grumpy and belligerent as “their Osgood.”

I didn’t love this quite as much as the first Osgood book but it’s still damn hood. A perfect sequel to book 1, like the Aliens to its Alien. It’s less creepy, more fast paced and continues to evolve its central character, the wonderful Prudence. I’m going straight into book 3!

I adored the first book in this series and was so excited for a chance to read this sequel. Health issues made me sit on it for a bit and it was torture to not get to it, wondering what happened to Os at the end of the first book. This one picks up from that cliffhanger ending and grabs you from the start by setting up a clever mystery which drives the subsequent action.
One the whole, I think this second installment in the Spectral Investigator series is better than the first. (That says something, because I gave 5-stars to that one as well.) With the establishing of relationships, introducing main characters and concepts, and the basic world building out of the way in the first book, Beckett is free to lead us through a couple hundred pages of fun, fast-paced action. We have here a novel filled with demons, monsters, witches, interpersonal drama, and trans-dimensional conflict laced with the witty repartee and moved by lovable and now-familiar characters.
This book develops the ensemble cast of characters more than the first does, and to good effect. The heart and soul of this novel, however, is still the protagonist Pru Osgood. She is clever, vulnerable, defiant, and messed up in all the right, relatable, and endearing ways. This is made all the better by the fact that I still can’t think of another queer paranormal investigator series in any media.
I’m a big fan of Cooper S Beckett. I think he’s one of the most enjoyable writers out there that you probably don’t know about. Do yourself a favor- read Osgood Riddance and this both. Then sign up for email list and get the short, Osgood Con as well. You’ll be hooked.

Being a fan of Beckett’s writing and first book in the series, I jumped at the chance to read Osgood Riddance. This is master storytelling, here. The words flow effortlessly, the characters are individually strong yet flawed and the harrowing plot completely compelling. Throughout this fast paced book, Prudence Osgood is in danger from one moment to the next. The mystery of her disappearance and what has followed her back is fraught with demons, witches, and inter-dimensional beings. If you’re a fan of Osgood As Gone, you will LOVE Osgood Riddance!

I’d like to thank the author for an ARC of this book, I absolutely LOVE Osgood series! I was amazed by the first book, I believe I wrote a review here for that one as well. I couldn’t wait for the sequel and I was pleasantly surprised when it was offered to me in exchange for a review, again :)
I don’t want to talk too, too much about it in order to avoid spoilers from this and previous book. I liked Osgood Riddance, but it didn’t blow my mind as much as Osgood As Gone did. It’s still an excellent read, I enjoyed all the action and there was A LOT of it. First part of the book was a little slower, but then it picked up and I think I’ve read 200 pages in one sitting, which I almost never do. I was a little overwhelmed with all the magic and “switching”, that’s the only “con” I have, if we can even call it a con.
I love author’s writing style, dialogues are always good written in these books and I care about characters, especially Zack, my favorite. The first book had that little “scavenger hunt” vibe, I really liked that. It’s interesting how these two books have kind of a different vibe, but belong to the same series. I think that’s great, there is definitely something for everyone.
I highly recommend these series and now, again, I can’t wait for the next book.
Go read it the first book before this one comes out in October!

Osgood Riddance begins with her dramatic return to her friends, and runs at full pace through monster attacks, the discovery of supernatural powers, and a mystery of where Osgood and her friends fit this puzzle.
Just like Osgood as Gone, the cast of characters is easy to connect with, even though (and maybe because) they all are extremely flawed. The story unwinds at a perfect horror comedy pace, keeping the tension and hilarity high (I laughed out loud and cringed inwardly multiple times). The ending is a powerhouse battle with monsters, magic, and many deaths.
This series continues to deliver some of the most engaging horror I have read in a long time, and I can’t wait for the next book!

Just another masterpiece!
This book is unique, haunting and breathtaking (in both the good way and the bad)!
The mysteries keep coming and following Osgood, Audrey, Zach and the newcomer Albrecht on their journey through the paranormal and its worlds are exciting, scary and amazing!
I loved this book just as much as the first and it had me gripped and struggling to put it down! If I loved the characters before, I love them even more now and they are so very real and beautiful in their both simple yet complex personalities.
This book is at times very gross (in the best Horror book way possible) and at times very philosophical But through it all its puzzling and riveting!
The Spectral Inspectors have a new Spectorino and I cant wait to read all of the next books to come!!

Thank you Cooper S. Beckett for giving me the chance to beta-read & SCREAM about Osgood Riddance!
-- how often does a sequel outbeat the original? Osgood as Gone was a phenomenal read & a perfect introduction to the characters & world of The Spectral Inspector series, but y'all -- Osgood Riddance should be placed on a gosh darn pedestal.
I was already 100%, over-the-moon, in love with Prudence Osgood when we first met her in the first book of the series. Somehow, in Osgood Riddance, I fell even MORE in love, so I'm basically now @ 200% in love. Beckett did a fantastic job at going more in-depth with character development. We see Osgood at one of her lowest times & it knocks us deeper into her layers. She's hurt & is still trying to carry the world on her shoulders. She takes all blame, and it adds to her already angsty personality. As mentioned in my review for Osgood as Gone, I'm a sucker for these kind of characters.
Another thing Cooper does brilliantly is helping you remember the previous book of the series. Listen, I have a shit memory. I remembered the basic concepts of Osgood as Gone, but not so much the minor details. It easily came back to me while reading Osgood Riddance, without a tacky rehashing.
We also get to see the return of her friends, Audrey & Zack. & UNGH, let me tell you, the ship between Audrey x Osgood has me so unbelievably shook. At this point, they're probably the only OTP in my life. So much, yes. There's also an introduction to new characters & honestly, shout-out to Cooper for being able to create so many wonderful, unique characters & placing them in the same world, without any of them feeling like a clone of another.
In general, Osgood's relationships with other characters was written so amazingly & it made me feel so much, especially in relation to Osgood's father & Zack. I may have shed a tear during a couple of the scenes. Which, again, we gotta shout-out Cooper for being absolutely brilliant & writing such realistic characters that make you actually feel things.
There's a lot of 'What the f$%$?" elements in Osgood Riddance. A majority of this book is an actual mind fuck & that's totally okay with me. There are enormous eyeballs, characters going into voids & the good ol' fashion creatures coming out of body parts (& yes, this is me trying to tell y'all in the most non-spoilery way that I can manage).
As usual, I like to mention when a book has fun pop culture mentions & Osgood Riddance definitely does; from Night of the Living Dead to The Exorcist. I love a good reference.
I 100% recommend The Spectral Inspector series. I don't usually stick with series, because I am easily distracted, but this one is something I will read until the end (which hopefully won't come anytime soon)!

You guys are going to want to read this book! It’s a total mindfuck wrapped up in truly heartfelt scenes that are masterfully crafted to give the reader all the feels.
I loved how Beckett focused most of this book on the relationships between his characters - it helped me to connect with them even more - and I loved getting to see more interaction between Osgood and her parents. And of course more Osgood and Audrey is always welcome ❤️

Yet another amazing addition to The Spectral Inspector series! I'm also finally caught up until book 4 comes out since I read book 3 out of order. Yet again, action hits you from the beginning of this book and does not let up until the very end - which did not end on a cliffhanger, thankfully. Book 1 and 2 are their own continued story before they move on to a new problem for the spectral inspector team in book 3.
This one definitely has more eldritch horror vibes compared to the urban legend mystery horror books 1 and 3. I do love me a creepy eldritch vibe, so I was living for that in this one. Beckett's ability to write such detailed vivid scenes continues with this book, which really sucks you in and places you right there with the others as they witness these horrors.
My only complaint was that the dialog heavy scenes got a bit jarring with how the characters were constantly cutting each other off. That's it, though!
I'm hooked for life on this series and can not wait for more!

Osgood Riddance starts us off with Prudence's return. Unfortunately, Pru and her Spectral Inspector team quickly realized that she didn't come back alone. A monster from another realm has come too, and now they must fight for their lives.
In my opinion, this story was way better than Osgood As Gone. Cooper dives into the characters' development a lot more, and his style of writing horror is unlike anything I've read. This book sucks you right in, and the descriptive writing makes the horror all the more gruesome. I felt that this storyline was also a lot more fast-paced. It helped make the spooky/suspense aspect of the book better! I'm really loving this series so far, and I'm curious as to how the next one will unfold!

Osgood riddance
Another fun adventure of the spectral inspector stemming from the first. A story full of seemingly impossible challenges to figure out, friends and family and of course the supernatural. Lovable characters that you just can’t help but cheer on through it all. A fast paced thriller that leaves you begging for more. I give it a five out of five. This book was given to me for free.

A sequel even crazier than what came before, Osgood Riddance is a whole lotta fun. Osgood reappears after over a year of being missing, how or why or where are unknown until we dive deeper. It’s a thrilling mystery, one you have to be willing to suspend your disbelief for all the way through to the end.
The art is a great supplement yet again and the ending is unexpected (even though I read the third one first and know where the story leads, I was still pleasantly surprised).
While there are some unanswered questions, I can’t wait to jump forward to Osgood as Dead.
Stars: 4.25 (rounded to 4*)

I loved this second installment!! If you enjoy a sarcastic, badass, often self deprecating, golden retriever in a lone wolf's clothing....read this damn book!! Osgood is such a deeply layered character and I absolutely love her! She doesn't think she deserves love or real friendships. She thinks that every messed up thing that has happened to her was deserved. Not only does Os fight off all kinds of spooky shit in this book, she fights herself a lot too. I feel like we see a lot of character development with her here. Realizing that she has a true and solid support system was just as disorienting for her as having a giant orchid man creature climb out of her chest and ravage her ex was.
I loved seeing Os slowly start working on her relationship with her dad. I can't say much about Eliza and Lil without spoiling some things so I'll just say; YOU PUNCHED ME IN MY DAMN FEELINGS, COOPER!! This picked up where book one left off seamlessly and gave us a ton of new conflict. A sprinkle of magic, possession, and brain tumors with eyes(well, just the one eye)...also being hunted down in a hospital. What's not to enjoy!?
There wasn't anything that I didn't enjoy about this book. I cannot wait to see what Osgood, Zack, and Audrey get up to in book three!

Enjoyed this quite a bit. Os and the gang really came together and solved everything.
The writing and storytelling is much improved in this book. Character development is shown more. I enjoyed the ease in which the author honors consent and identity by showing it on page. It’s a great read with pictures to boot!

The cliffhanger of the first book had me intrigued to read this book and it did not disappoint. This book was filled with drama, witches, demons and monsters. I loved that this book was very fast-paced and action packed. It kept me entertained and hooked from the very first word.
I absolutely love how flawed Prudence Osgood is. She is a hot mess and I love her for it because it makes her so relatable. I absolutely love that there is more character development in this book.
Going on to the third book of this series!!! I am absolutely looking forward to reading it.

Listen, before I read this novel, I read the latest books from my two most fave authors, Margaret Atwood and then Stephen King. While theirs were of course incredible, they paled in comparison. Osgood Riddance is SUBLIME.
From the very first page I was completely engrossed. Time and body allowing, I could've devoured this in one sitting.
There are multiple scenes that are so horrific that they rank up there with the grand names of horror, including Sai King (who I think would LOVE this novel!). The tension built up throughout the very fast- but skillfully-paced plot had me feeling like a tightly-wound spring about to sproing! And there is so much authentic emotion and displays of overwhelming love and friendship that I was moved to tears more than once. It hit me DEEP in my feels.
I look forward to the further tales of Osgood. 💗

And there is so much authentic emotion and displays of overwhelming love and friendship that I was moved to tears more than once. It hit me DEEP in my feels.

I don’t want to talk about the plot of this book for fear of spoiling it or the first book in The Spectral Inspector series so I’ll just tell you that I loved this book!! I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I had been looking forward to reading Osgood Riddance since I finished Cooper’s first book in the series, Osgood as Gone, and I was not let down.

The characters are so well written and it felt like I was coming back to visit old friends and the plot was amazing! If you haven’t read this series, now is a good time to start, it’s perfect for the spooky season.

A good follow up to the first book.
The first was definitely creepier but this one also didn’t disappoint.

I read Book Two of the Spectral Inspector Series by Cooper S. Beckett @coopersbeckett over the weekend and I was blown away!! Osgood reappears after disappearing while she was recording an episode of her podcast, Spectral Inspector, after being gone for 15 months. I started the book off getting so frustrated with Osgood. She was such an asshole to the people she left behind to pick up the pieces after her disappearance. It didn’t take long for my love of this character to return though. Os goes through a whirlwind of emotions in this supernatural story. A wild surgery, meeting mystical family members she knew nothing about, demons, witches, love and loss. I was so excited about this book I feel like I’m going to give spoilers away so that’s all I’m going to say 🫣😆 Book two has it all and I’m so excited to start Book three this week!!

This is book 2 in the series, fast paced and amazing character development. This book is filled with monsters, witches, and trans-dimensional conflict. The characters are still easy to connect with. The horror in this book is very descriptive and I am so into it. From the first chapter it will have you saying what the heck and wanting to know what is going to happen now. I could not put this down. I am diving into book three right after this. If you are a true horror fan, this is a must read for you.

Okay all the thoughts I had about Osgood changed in this one. I do infact love her as a character. I've seen some reviews that the second book wasnt as good as the first one and the first book was great but this one didn't for me. The mystery, the magic the wtf moments. I loved it all. All the characters are great and I love the two added and I did cry with the loss of a character. I started this last night and just devoured it this morning. I'm not sure how the rest of the series could be as good but im ready to jump in.

I devoured this just like the first - Osgood and the gang suck you in and it’s such a different story. A great sequel I had no idea where the story was going and it was a wild ride. I’m so glad there’s a 3rd book!

After I finished the first book I dived right into Book 2. I felt this was a bit darker and a little creeper than Book 1 which I didn’t mind at all.

I'm sure the first book wore as many of its influences on its sleeve, and perhaps I just wasn't as aware of them as in this one, but for me it felt like this second book is just a grab-bag of horror tropes loosely connected by the fallout of the first book. Still walking the line of "Is it gratuitous or is it realistic?" and I'm giving up on the benefit of the doubt, especially when the sapphic sex scenes are behind closed doors. Just lends a strange sense of inconsistency through the book.
AND YET, the book felt extremely short and readable, as it moves like a river of melted butter. Probably why all the little things get to me.
